Magic Wands

We picked up some chopsticks at our local Chinese food chain then warmed up the glue gun and went to work.

First the girls goop the glue on one end and mold it to make a handle.

The girls used hand lotion for molding to prevent the glue from sticking to their hands.

Then wound more glue down around the chopstick to complete their wand.

You can add small beads for texture then paint, the girls chose to leave it plain since they used glitter glue sticks.

Halloween

We picked out our pumpkins early so we drew faces on them then decided to carve them up the day before Halloween.

Keira got a hold of the drill and just went to town with it.

These little pumpkins took a beating.

After the girls drilled as many holes as possible they put candles in and lit them up.

Halloween dinner included mummy dogs. We cut arms and legs in the hot dog and wrapped them with strips of crescent roll dough.

 That's a Halloweiner!

Charm Bracelets

We found a bracelet kit that included the charms, as well as, the leather and suede straps.

Keira and I made matching bracelets.

Then Keira made one more on her own, there was 5 different styles of bracelets they could make with the kit.

Leilani made a two bracelets that have "Best" on one and "Friends" on the other to give to her friend.

Water Bottle Dolls

The girls were finishing off their Gatorade when Leilani thought her bottle would make a great doll.

The girls found some old t-shirts and cut them up to make clothes for the dolls.

They used the hot glue gun to attach the clothes to the bottle.

Leilani scrunched up some fabric and glued it along the bottom to make it look like a tutu.

Then faces were added with markers and, in some cases, bows were added to the top of their heads.

Frozen Silly Putty

Cousin Darla showed the girls how to make Frozen Silly Putty.

They mixed one bottle of clear glue with the same amount of water then added blue food coloring and glitter.

Then dissolved 1/2 teaspoon Borax in 1 cup hot water before adding it to the clear glue mixture.

It quickly thickened up and shaped up into a ball.

The girls loved it so much they made several more batches in various colors.

Ice Cream Cake

We wanted to make an ice cream cake for Auntie Kimmi's birthday. The was our first one so we learned a few things to do better for the next time but this one was still fun and tasted great.

Stacking ice cream sandwiches 3 on each level 4 levels high then covered it with Cool Whip. Next we chopped up a couple candy bars and sprinkled then finished it off with chocolate syrup.

We left it in the freezer overnight, the hard part was waiting 15 minutes before cutting in. It started to fall apart when cutting so next time we'll use something to hold the layers together like chocolate syrup and maybe not stack the layers so high. Everyone loved it!

Mother's Day Dessert

Strawberry Trifle

The girls made a strawberry trifle for Mother's Day. They layered angel food cake, strawberries chopped and mixed with strawberry jello, and vanilla pudding mixed with whipped cream. It tasted fabulous and they made it look like a strawberry sundae.

Painting with Epsom Salt

We added 1/2 cup of epsom salt to 1/2 cup boiling water then stirred til all the salt was dissolved.

The girls painted the epsom salt water onto dark colored cardstock.

Once dried it looked liked the picture was painted with crystals.

Keira painted a snowflake.

Leilani painted Elsa from Frozen.

Crayon Lipstick

We were watching some videos online when we came across a "How To" video for crayon lipstick. The instructions were easy and we happen to have all the ingredients so we decided to give it a whirl.

All that's needed is a half teaspoon of Coconut Oil, a little dab of Vaseline and a crayon. Once we peeled and broke up the crayon we put all ingredients into a small jar and placed it in a sauce pan with boiling water. Once everything is melted we mixed it together and poured into small plastic containers and placed in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Once the lipstick was ready, the girls grabbed a lipstick brush to test it out.

Keira went with pink and Leilani tried a blue color but they can wait to try out more colors.

Butterflies

The girls dipped coffee filters into dishes of water & food coloring.

Then clipped them with clothes pins and made faces with a marker to create butterflies

Marshmallow Art

I thought the girls just wanted to eat marshmallows but they glued most of them to the paper.

Leilani made a flower and Keira went with the more traditional snowman.
